DATA 2150: Artificial Intelligence Tools
This is a hands-on course that provides students with practical experience employing generative AI to perform real-world tasks. Students learn to effectively collect accurate historical and real-time information, generate high-quality text and media, transform content between formats, analyze data to derive insights, and deploy generative AI to tackle private and professional challenges.
Course Goals
This course is designed to develop students' comprehensive understanding of generative AI principles, capabilities, and limitations, while providing practical experience in applying AI to real-world problems.
After completing this course, students will be able to employ generative AI to:
- Explain and discuss the principles, capabilities, and limitations of generative AI.
- Master the use of key AI tools following best practices.
- Apply AI to real-world problems across various domains.
- Critically evaluate new AI models, tools, and outputs.
- Analyze trends in AI development and evaluate their potential impacts.
This 3-credit hour course has no prerequisites, is open to all students, and is taught by CAIDS and SLAM Professor of Practice, Knud Berthelsen.
