DATA 2060: Data Science Research and Communication
This 3-credit hour course examines how knowledge production processes relate to designing and communicating data and science research across various digital mediums. Students will gain experience in practices relating to data research and develop their expertise in epistemology theories. This course covers ethical considerations in research and examines how political and societal issues affect how a research is presented to the public.
Course Goals
- Use digital tools to create and communicate science and data research products.
- Learn about and apply ethical practices in data research.
- Examine how social and political factors such as race, gender, sexuality, and disability influence how data stories are interpreted and communicated.
- Engage in a variety of fields including data science, technology studies, and digital scholarship.
This 3 credit hour course has no prerequisites and satisfies the "Social & Behavioral Science" and "Tier-2 Writing" Core Curriculum Requirements.
