Biography

Margaret M. Keenan (Meg) joined CAIDS as the Administrative Program Coordinator in 2023. Keenan is the CAIDS’ first point of contact and event coordinator. She also runs the new faculty orientation program and manages the CAIDS' Graduate Grants program. Keenae is delighted to be part of an initiative offering programming to the Tulane community and public. CAIDS’ development of courses open to all Tulane students, including those in less data-driven fields, impressed Keenan. I majored in history in the early 1990s,” she says. “Back then, liberal arts students learned little about data. I would have jumped at the chance to take courses like Introduction to Data.”

A native New Orleanian, Keenan received a B.A. in history from the University of New Orleans. She went on to earn her M.A. and Ph.D. in history from Tulane University, where she has taught courses in early modern history and the history of gender for more than two decades. In addition to serving as CAIDS’ Program Coordinator, Keenan is an Adjunct Lecturer for the Master of Liberal Arts Program at the School of Professional Advancement, where she is fortunate to teach non-traditional students of all ages and backgrounds. Keenan began her administrative career at Tulane’s Center for Ethics and Public Affairs, where she worked for 20 years before joining CAIDS.
