CAIDS AI Workshops
CAIDS offers a variety of workshops focused on real-world applications of artificial intelligence tools, delivered by Professor Knud Berthelsen. These hands-on sessions equip you with practical skills that can transform how you work and learn. All faculty, staff, and students are welcome to attend. Prior experience is encouraged but not required. Please bring your laptop to fully participate in these sessions.
Presented by the Connolly Alexander Institute for Data Science (CAIDS) and the Center for Engaged Learning & Teaching (CELT), these workshops are designed to help faculty leverage Tulane AI in their courses.
All workshops are held in the CELT classroom in Howard-Tilton Memorial Library 306 and on Zoom. Please bring your laptop to participate in hands-on activities.
Leveraging AI to Create Presentation Slides and Other Visualizations for Class: AI is a useful tool for creating appealing and attention-grabbing slides and other visualizations for your class. This workshop will teach you how to leverage AI for efficient and effective slides and visualizations.
Creating an Assessment with Tulane AI: TulaneAI can be used for many teaching-related tasks, including creating assessments. Since TulaneAI is a closed system and doesn't use our prompts and data to train outside systems (or itself), it is ideal for assisting busy professors. This workshop will introduce you to TulaneAI, provide recommendations for designing assessments, and walk you through using TulaneAI to create an assessment.
TulaneAI as Co-Professor: Analyzing Your Syllabus and Planning Your Course: In this workshop, you will learn how to leverage TulaneAI to design your course and ensure your syllabus aligns with your course goals and policies. TulaneAI is a useful tool for ensuring that your prompts, inputs, and data are not shared or used to train any AI platforms.

AI: How It Works and How to Work With It: Learn how AI works, how to use key AI tools, best practices, and personalization strategies.
AI: What’s New and What’s Next: A guided look at major AI developments since 2022 and what’s coming next.
AI: Deep Research and Deeper Understanding: Commission full research reports, synthesize findings, and turn results into reusable knowledge assets.

Mastering ChatGPT: Learn Custom GPTs, deep research, agent mode, connectors, canvas, and file generation.
Mastering Claude: Work with Claude on projects, deep research, connectors, and custom writing styles.
Mastering Gemini & NotebookLM: Create deep research reports, visualizations, mind maps, podcasts, and video overviews.
